Barleyz revamp their dance floor and dining options
Already an established destination that side of town for craft beer, city views and al fresco eating, two years after they first launched, Barleyz Sky Lounge is redefining their offerings. The indoor bar area has had a face lift while the tandoori rooftop buffet promises fresh surprises even for regulars.
Fans of the microbrewery need not fear – the focus on craft beer remains, with four specialties currently on the menu: wit, special, stout and larger. While all are worth a try (and the sampler glasses are perfect for that), we’re particular fans of the wit beer, which is delicately flavoured with orange peel and coriander, giving it a delicious aftertaste. All of the classic cocktails are well executed, so once you’ve had a drink or two, it’s the perfect time to test the new dance floor. Despite being extremely spacious, it’s packed at the weekends.
If it’s food you’re after then Barleyz has always had multiple options: iChin, the fine dining lounge with an Indo-Chinese buffet, the evening rooftop buffet with its tandoori starters and mixture of Indian and Western fare, and of course an extensive a la carte menu that’s available across both floors. With a larger collection of soups (think everything from French onion to Thai coconut), starters (we loved the pudina paneer tikka), and mains (try the Irish stew) Barleyz now promise that you’ll never be faced with the same selection on the buffet two nights in a row. For al fresco snacking we highly recommend the thin crust pizzas, which come with generous toppings, and just the right crunch factor.
