With papads served in cutting chai glasses and quirky cocktails, Sosho Lounge and Bar is set to make a marksosho17

The three-month-old Sosho Lounge and Bar in Kavuri Hills, Madhapur, has hit the right notes with the party-goers in the city. The three entrepreneurs who started this lounge – Sushil Agarwal, Rakesh Agarwal and Kunal Kankaria – have focussed on keeping it cosy but classy. “We wanted an unusual name for a bar, hence we chose Sosho,” begins Mansi Kankaria, the managing director.
Cosy affair
Apart from the indoors with quirky wall art in vibrant yellow, the lounge also has a spacious alfresco area with comfortable seating. The white and aquamarine furniture with comfortable sofas and a cluster of bougainvillea blooms is designed to remind you of Greece. The soft lounge music, playing in the background is perfect to warm you up for beats from the in-house DJ or bands from Delhi, depending on which day of the week you choose to visit the place.

The menu, designed by executive chef Puran Thapa and his team is fresh and delicious. Expect interesting bar snacks, reinvented accompaniments and finger foods (also called chaknaa). For instance, Pop Kaun Sa comprises caramel, dark chocolate, pudina flavoured popcorn and could be an interesting pair for your cocktails. If you are in a mood for some gastronomical adventure, try the Applam Chuplam – served in cutting chai glasses, the latter is an assortment of papads comprising laal chana, lassan, and green moong papads with corn, onion and tomato filling. We found the BBQ Malai Chicken (marinated skewered chicken served with cheese and barbeque sauce) goes well with a glass of single malt or the outlet’s signature cocktail, Sazaric – Teacher’s 50 Scotch whisky with anise-flavoured liqueur Sambuca and Angostura bitter. The other appetiser that caught our fancy was Scotch Eggs – boiled egg coated with minced chicken and panko crumbs. Apart from these, there are plated vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Spirited moments
With quirky signature cocktails on offer we picked the ‘Black Ship Tender’, a pineapple juice concoction infused with rum. With a hint of fresh citrus, the drink has a tangy aftertaste. Coffee fans must try ‘I Am Famous’ with espresso vodka, vanilla ice-cream and cinnamon. For teetotallers there are options like ‘Cuddles On The Beach’ – a refreshing mix of orange and cranberry juice.
