Gaurav Arora leaves the runway behind and faces the camera for Vikram Bhatt’s new film, Love Games.
IT HAS been more than a decade since the Bhatts of Bollywood have introduced a new hero. Known for launching actors like John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi, this time they are putting their faith in Gaurav Arora, a model-turned-actor, who will debut with the film Love Games, produced by Vishesh films and directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film also stars Patralekha and Tara Alisha Berry.
“Love Games is a movie about how a rich boy, while fooling around, falls in love with a girl. It is not like I am just showing my six packs. The character goes through a whole emotional graph,” explains Arora, who researched the life of swingers to prepare for the role.
Hailing from a small town in Madhya Pradesh, becoming an actor was Arora’s childhood dream. “It was a hobby back then; in college I realised that it was much more than that,” says the 30-year-old, who won several college competitions in fashion and acting, before heading to Mumbai in 2006. After a decade of modelling campaigns and fashion shows (like Lakme Fashion Week) and features in magazines like Vogue and GQ, Arora auditioned for Aashiqui 2 in 2014. Though that didn’t work out, he was offered Love Games, two years later. “While I was shooting in Cape Town, Mahesh Bhatt called me and said, ‘Gaurav, you are the new dark horse of the industry, we are putting our money on you,’ On the fourth day of the shoot, Vikram offered me Raaz 4!” says Arora excitedly, and shares that he will soon be doing a third film with Vishesh Films.
