Neetu Gupta curates a late summer sale of edgy new labels

There’s no better way to chase those mid-week blues than with a spot of shopping. So Olive Beach has very cleverly decided to help ease your troubles with a pop-up sale on Wednesday. Hosted and curated by Neetu Gupta of The Verandah, a designer boutique in Ulsoor, the line-up includes everyone from newbies to well-established names. “While attending the Lakme and Amazon fashion weeks, I realised how much talent we have in this country. I’m always looking for new designers to host at my store. But this time, I thought it would be nice to organise a pop-up,” shares Gupta.
The event will see sustainable and handcrafted garments being sold, alongside jewellery and other accessories. Expect labels like Akaaro, House of Sohn, Chola, Urvashi Kaur, En Inde and Chicory Chai. “Akaaro weaves its own fabrics , which are turned into the most lovely trousers, wrap around skirts and saris,” Gupta tells us.
Wh!m, which sources its pieces from across the country, focuses on everyday clothes that are designed to best reflect one’s personality. “They’re very chic and elegant,” says Gupta. If you’re looking for interesting prints, make a stop at House of Sohn, whose Spring-Summer ’16 collection employs mixed media prints that are subtle reproductions of nature photography from a woman’s travels around the world.
Jewellery line, En Inde, brings together the urban and rural sides of India in its array of necklaces, cuffs, earrings and more.
And if it’s too hot to handle, some refreshing cocktails from the bar should keep you going all day.
May 4, At Olive Beach, Wood Street. Noon to 7 pm. Details: 9945565483
