Now almost at the halfway mark, the contestants will see the challenges get more intense with this week’s task upping the ante. The Heaven & Hell Mystery Box Cha-llenge on the TV showwill see contests based on the seven deadly sins. And the following week is dedicated to fast food.
Expect guest chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Kirsten Tibbles, Daniel Wilson, Donovan Cook and Michelin-starred Greg Malouf, who will be mentoring and judging the culinary creations.
A trip to Dubai is also on the cards for the top eight contestants as they are whisked off to whip up meals for VIP guests at the Palm Atlantis. According to Gary Mehigan, this year’s competition is less uptight and more fun. This time round, the judges’ call is sometimes not final as some of the rounds will be judged by a live audience like last week’s fishermen. 50 couples on their first date, 50 Alfa Romeo enthusiasts or office goers will take the call on who deserves immunity in various tasks, that will also see contestants cooking in sub-zero conditions.
Recipes that are multi-cultural take centrestage in the following episodes that portray the increasingly popular trend of mixing cuisines. You can also look forward to simple and quick recipes that go easy on the garnish and preparation time. Also, true to the essence of MasterChef, there is a cooking session with California Pizza Kitchen’s chef. Two lucky applicants will be chosen (see contest above) to witness the making of dishes that encapsulate the theme for this week — Heaven and Hell. So gear up to master some distinctive gastronomy skills at California Pizza Kitchen.
