The Raajsan Watch Company opens a new store, with high-end watches and cuckoo clocks
From a small store in Ratan Bazaar to a swank outlet in Purasawalkam, Raajsan Watch Company brings some pizzazz to North Madras. The 35-plus-year outlet has evolved over the years to accommodate over 50 brands of watches and 20 brands of clocks. Their newly-inaugurated 3,500 sq ft showroom is the single largest space retailing specialty timepieces in the city.
From the ubiquitous Swatch to the more elusive Rado Cermaica, expect to find a range that will cater to most budgets and occasions. Proprietor Shradha Malvania is a connoisseur and has hand-picked each one on display. “I follow local buying trends and cross reference with what is hot in the national and international markets,” says Malvania, who has over 50 watches in her private collection, and plans to get an Omega Seamaster next. “Omega is the one brand we don’t have, but we are working towards getting it.”
If the curated selection does not appeal to you, Malvania promises to source any model from any retailed brand within two working days. “Each counter is equipped with a touch-screen display which shows you the features and prices of all the watches in the catalogue. We will special order anything at no extra cost,” she explains.Rs.400 onwards. Details: 26422976
Fastest moving: Guess. Their recent animal print collection was a big hit.
Currently trending: Dual-tone watches for the slightly older and professional crowd.
Next big thing: Neon dials on metallic watches or a simple neon wrap watch.
Christmas pick: Cuckoo clocks. Nothing says X’mas like birds saying ‘cuckoo’ from behind golden pine cones. Rs.700 onwards.
