The French designer from Kolkata brings her cotton home accessory brand, Tia Pakhi, to Amethyst

NAMED Tia Pakhi after the parrots in her city, Kolkata, Anais Basu’s range of home linens, accessories and clothing for children has quite a following. It therefore made sense for the French designer to accompany her artist husband to Chennai and showcase her work at the charming Amethyst. ‘‘I believe in slow fashion, everything handmade,’’ says Basu, who loves working with the theme of geometry and the kantha form of embroidery. You will find humoristic pieces like an alphabet runner as well as cotton dresses and kurtas for one to five-year-olds. ‘‘They are on a white base, with colourful threads,’’ she says. Next time, she promises to bring the Adda or floor cushions that double as a checkerboard ‘‘to sit around and exchange gossip.’’

The sale, till January 22, will include home accessories (Rs1,000  to Rs6,500), stoles and clothing for children (Rs450 onwards). Details: 43042099
