The weekend got off to a ‘starry’ start with Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Rakesh Bedi bringing down their funny-yet-poignant play, Mera Woh Matlab Nahin Tha. Playing to a full house, we spotted the who’s who — including actors Siddharth and Arvind Swamy — sighing, smiling and reminiscing about their first loves, after watching Kher and Gupta play two lovers rekindling their relationship in their twilight years. Meanwhile, the Designers Council of India, in association with Brand Avatar, launched the Chennai Fashion Week (CFW) with a press conference at The Westin. After several rounds of auditions, a select group of models were chosen, who, along with the professionals will be part of the upcoming show. We were given a glimpse of what’s to come, with a quick sequence from Sri Kumaran, followed by an interaction with the media. Addressing the press were the organisers, along with actor Sonia Aggarwal and the face of CFW, Rochelle Rao. The formalities gave way to a purple-themed after party by Naturals at Illusions, which was taken quite seriously. From splashes of violet, to head-to-toe purple ensembles to orchid hair wreaths, it is safe to say the selfie brigade had their fair share of fun.
The fun continued with IndiEarth at The Park showcasing a great line-up of artists this weekend. Performing at The Lobby stage was Madley Blues featuring Vedanth, whose performance was mesmerising. Their unique style of music, fused with a traditional sound, filled the space with just the right vibe for a Saturday evening. Music lovers and party enthusiasts filled up the venue with other guests slowly joining in. A mix of Bengali, Tamil and other languages had the crowd completely into it and everyone had their phones in the air recording videos by the end of it. Further on, SHFT took over at The Leather Bar with the crowd moving in from the lobby to enjoy a completely different style of music. A little head banging for good measure, switching the tempo up to match the electronic vibes of the night.
Artemis cars also launched their new Volvo showroom this Friday with the Volvo S60 T6 over a wine and cheese evening. Guests got to enjoy a performance by singer Punya Srinivas, as well as meet Tom von Bonsdorff, managing director, Volvo Auto India and showroom owner, Nrithya Shetty.
