Anaheeta and Deepak Pinto give waste a higher purpose
British cookware brand Lakeland makes its foray into the city with a store within a store concept at Westside, after launching in Pune earlier last month. Pioneers in the field of practical, chic, classy and practical kitchen accessories and appliances, the L-shaped Lakeland section on the first floor at the department store is sure to delight and excite all budding and established home chefs alike.
“Having successfully launched in six countries in the Middle East region, we are confident that the new stores in Pune and Bangalore will prove very popular too,” says Tony Preedy, marketing director. With every product of theirs, right from the bread makers to their colourful lemon and onion savers, tailor-made and hand-picked by their buyers to ensure maximum performance and efficiency, their appliances include everything from a simple fondue set to the more specific cupcake, yogurt and cake pop makers. While the products are great because of their ease of use, some, like the cupcake makers, do their job in just four minutes – the attractive designs and colours of each of them make a strong case for a spot in your kitchen.
Perhaps, a first in India, their slow cooker is made specially for those who are not too comfortable about leaving the gas on for those delicious slow cooking recipes.
Glancing through the store, we spotted some unusual baking trays in fun shapes like giant cupcakes, hexagons, and comma pans. A wide selection of tart and tartlet moulds, eclair and baguette trays too adorn the shelves. Crumpet rings, bundt pans and tagines are also stocked here but we loved their collection of vintage enamel kitchenware which includes pots, pans, pie dishes and more.
