Some new-age music is so pathetic that even the sound of a chainsaw is pleasant in comparison. A station isn’t complete without a repository of classics. It’s the best fall-back when listeners are fed up with the noise that is created under the guise of composition.
Chennai’s Big FM is all set to entertain its listeners with a brand new show based on music legend A R Rahman. Introducing singer-turned-RJ Anuradha Sriram as the host, the radio station announced the launch of Rahman Ungaludan with much fanfare at The Residency Towers. Present at the occasion were noted personalities from the entertainment fraternity like Srinivasa Murthy, Balaji Mohan, Siddharth Vipin, Mervin Solomon, Vivek Siva and RJ Balaji, to name a few.
The show, which launched on June 16, is about presenting Rahman’s timeless musical treasures—right from Roja to Kochadaiyaan. RJ Anuradha will take listeners (every Monday to Friday from 9 pm) through a journey with stories and trivia about the man of few words. Rahman Ungaludan will also have his friends come on the show to share intimate and little-known facts about his life. Moreover, a movie will also be played on radio for the audience to appreciate his background score and songs.
With Sriram’s passion for music and her history of having worked with Rahman, she is the perfect choice to be the RJ on the show. “I am thrilled and elated to be associated with one of the leading radio networks in Chennai. Personally, being a big Rahman fan, the opportunity to host the show couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’m very excited to talk about the legend who, along with making the country proud of his work on a global level, has also been a mentor to me in the music and film industry,” says Sriram.
So tune in at 9 pm on Big 92.7 FM and catch a whole new sound and a brand new presenter on radio. See you next week.
