Summer Love’s latest collection includes accessories and garments in bright hues

Adding a touch of quirk to her store Summer Love, Sunaina Ganapathy has introduced a line of hand-crafted hair accessories by The Ribbon Factory, Mumbai. Featured are funky feather clips in shades of orange, deep blue, sea green and hot pink, bright flower and bow clips in fluorescent green, peach, fuchsia and purple with pearl and cut-work petals for a feminine look. The line also includes lace headbands in gold, silver, soft blue, pink and purple, and bright yellow and orange for those with an affinity for anything Bohemian. “This is our first collaboration, so I’m very excited. It’s moving fast especially with my younger lot of customers primarily because the pieces are unique, fun and so girly,” Ganapathy says.

    Comfort and style
Marrying ease of wear with style is not easy, but Ganapathy works the concept with some of her latest creations which include simple shirts, tunics, feminine blouses, and palazzo pants – all in cotton. While the blouses and tunics include elements of femininity like scalloped hemlines, bow backs and pleated frills in pleasing silhouettes, the shirts are more classic and timeless with plain roll-up sleeves and prints in cream, navy and earthy tones. The ‘Indian’ pallazzos, with their drawstring fastening, lean towards the eccentric with Aztec prints in shades of mint, red and black and another that caught our eye, had horizontal geometric prints in pink, peach and burnt orange hues. “Our idea is to give our customers a happy shopping experience with regards to the fit and the pricing,” she says. While Ganapathy mainly sticks to tops and trousers, she always has a small selection of day dresses, perfect for a hot summer, some of which include a chambray print doll dress, a light, red and white number with roll-up sleeves and a dainty retro-inspired shirt dress with floral prints.  “I try to make dresses with sleeves, for in-between occasions that are neither too formal nor too casual,” Ganapathy explains.
