    License for fun
Inspired by the exclamatory term coined by the eccentric Sheldon Cooper in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Bazinga is a new store in Anna Nagar East. Started by Ashrita Keshav Preetham and Lekha Rajeev on October 17, the store offers tees featuring mischievous faces, among other children’s wear. Armed with a masters from the Birmingham Institute of Design in UK, Rajeev says, “One of the feedbacks we’ve got is that once the clothes are on the kids, they don’t want to take them off. We soure from an international supplier who works with a lot of German brands. So in terms of quality, it’s not going to fade, and it’s got very sturdy construction, too. We guarantee a minimum of five washes.” Made from 100 per cent knit fabrics like jersey and pique, expect polos, collared tees and track pants featuring little dinosaurs and stripes for boys, and smart skirts, frocks, tops and full sleeved tees for girls, with rabbits, hearts and stars, besides accessories and stationery. With more stores in the pipeline for the city, they plan to launch a baby section by December, and a limited-occasion wear line. For children between six  months and six years.

    Global appeal
Just like its popular parent brand Azure, you’ll find no fuss or frills at the kids’ shop, Azure Junior. Located a few steps away from Azure’s store at CP Ramaswamy Road, their latest offering for kids features their signature chevron, dots and floral prints in sorbet shades. Launched this August, Azure Junior’s focus is on smart and tasteful casual wear for children in Indian silhouettes, but with western prints. As  Dipu Krishnamurthi, the owner, puts it. “I can guarantee that if you go abroad and visit a kids store you’ll find similar themes.” Although it’s stocked currently with dresses, shorts, tops and PJs in cottons and linens for girls,
Krishnamurthi promises more additions in the boys’ section that has limited button-down shirts and kurtas now. You’ll also find accessories for baby cots, like tiny pillows, bolsters, whale-shaped cushions and quilts featuring animal motifs and stripes. She also stocks onesies for infants from a brand called Lazy Bones. Krishnamurthi, who had a kids line at Azure earlier, decided to launch the store as she had received a great response for her collections. She will also be launching party wear and Christmas dresses by the end of the year. For children up to 12 years of age. Priced from Rs.690 to Rs.1,590. Details: 24672773

    Sole intention
Little girls can now turn fashion divas by sporting the famous round-toed ballerina shoes once spotted on Hollywood’s darling, Audrey Hepburn. These are a part of Ferragamo MINI, the Italian luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo’s capsule shoe collection for children. Featuring the brand’s signature bows, there’s casual footwear for play time, with rubber soles offering an ultra-soft fit, as well as shimmery party shoes in soft suedes and laser-cut nappa leather. Available in sizes 27 to 33 (US), they are available in colours like red and blue, apart from metallic gold and silver. Priced from Rs.24,000 to Rs.27,000. The collection will be available in India from December. Details: ferragamo.com

    Spread the word
Announcing the arrival of your new bundle of joy just got easier. Launched in October with personalised Diwali cards, Inksedge, an online portal, has now introduced a baby announcement collection that you can personalise with your baby’s name, photo and birth information. Printed on Italian paper, for the girls, you can choose from cards featuring motifs of flowers, paisley and more, in shades of pink. For baby boys, it is blues and greens. Started by Rohini Chakravarthy, a venture capital investor in the US, and Anuja Ranjane, who has worked as the project manager in US-based card companies like Tiny Prints, Inksedge was born out of their personal experiences. “In the US, birth announcements are a tradition. With lives getting busier in India, parents are looking for ways to capture special moments and share with loved ones who are far away. We have customers who’ve ordered cards for events like the baby’s first rice meal or mundan,” Ranjane says. Rs.60 per card with free delivery. Details: inksedge.com
