The online gifting space is still at a nascent stage. And luxury online gifting is relatively unexplored. That’s where UK-based GiftVault comes in. It is owned by Lee Greenberg, a venture capital specialist, and Violetta Winkworth-Gruosi, a luxury expert, and daughter of the head of Geneva-based jewellery brand De Grisogono. GiftVault now enters India, courtesy designer and entrepreneur Kavita Chougule, from the winemaking Chateau Indage family. Known for its curated luxury gifts, the site will have offerings for home, men, women and children. The collection covers lifestyle, jewellery, cosmetics, technology and artwork. And the occasions range from christening and motherhood to Diwali
For the discerning
The site (estimated to be worth RS 1.9 billion) offers products like Christofle silverware, handcrafted leather games, De Grisogono’s leather bags and a Lazerian bespoke carbon fibre coffee table, to name a few. Chougule promises that the luxury site eliminates all the problems associated with gifting portals with its solutions: time duration to find a gift, fear of getting it wrong and getting the wrong size. “As a gift site, we want people to receive real gifts; ones that are different, that will surprise,” the designer insists about the bespoke gifting website. “Whether it is corporate or personal, GiftVault is up to the task, with their team of personal shoppers,” offers Chougule, whose knowledge of the Indian market came to use along with her involvement in merchandise. She will launch her capsule collection Poetry on the site in November.
The social factor
To make the gifting experience more personal, Chougule has added a socialising element to it. “You can create your gift list. This has been paired with a ‘find friends’ feature to see what your friends want. GiftVault can be used as a place for inspiration (ie most romantic gift, proposal ideas).” The site allows you to share wish lists and upload videos. You will receive SMS/email reminders of special occasions and GiftBlog updates you on new entries like the Robstep, a personal transporter.
