From Versace to Michael Kors, Secret Dresser brings you pre-owned high-fashion items at a much reduced cost
Wearing a trend-setting Karen Millen dress or a high-fashion Emporio Armani leather jacket is on most aspiring fashionistas’ wishlist.
However, regardless of your love for these luxury items, they are not easy on the pocket.
Fret not. Fashion portal, Secret Dresser, which is expanding its network to the Pearl City, is designed to resolve an aspirational dresser’s woes. It sources pre-owned designer ensembles, bags, shoes, watches, accessories which are high-end and makes them available for its patrons at a discounted price.
So what edge will it offer? Explains Delhi-based founder of this portal, Dimple Mirchandani, “First, buyers from the City of Nizams would be able to touch and feel the product they have ordered. Second, payment on delivery becomes much easier,” says the 26-year-old.
The website is elegantly designed. You can shop from a plethora of the most coveted brands, from Louis Vuitton to Jimmy Choo, and also some famous Indian designers like Sabyasachi Mukherji, Shantanu and Nikhil. Mirchandani started the portal in March and she explains that the core of her venture was inspired by something personal and relatable.
No shame, just stuff
“I had many high-end outfits, bags and shoes in my closet that I didn’t use. I am sure there are many like me who don’t want to throw away their expensive clothes to make space for new ones nor do they want to stop shopping. Through this portal, they can recycle and buy more as well,” says the Delhi girl. Moreover, the brand promises anonymity to buyers and sellers. “I hope that sometime soon, we can get rid of the shame attached to buying pre-owned products.”
However, the idea of pre-owned luxury comes with another set of reservations, as far as buyers are concerned.
Authenticating and employing the justified price requires a long-drawn process. After pictures of the products are thoroughly scanned for even the most minor defects, the process of authentication begins from the company. “First a team of freelancers in-house check the product. Later an American company, Authentication First, vets the products and gives us a go-ahead,” says the entrepreneur, adding that selling prices are set in lieu of the current price of the product and its condition.
So why go for new when luxury refurbished can look as good as new?
