Rarely does one come across a film production company that has quite a few aspiring actors on its administrative roll. Studio 9, the distribution-production house behind movies like Dharmadurai, has the likes of Ganesh Prasad and Madhu Raghuram—both office executives—who have acted in a film each. RK Suresh, its head honcho, has also made a mark for himself as a baddie in Thaarai Thappattai and Marudhu. He is now all set to play the protagonist in a new film directed by Sajid.
A long wait
For fans of Dhanush, it’s a treat this weekend. The actor plays a railway pantry worker in Thodari, a romantic thriller based on events that transpire on a train journey. The movie will see the Dhanush-Prabhu Solomon combo for the first time, with Keerthy Suresh, Ganesh Venkatraman, Thambi Ramaiah and Nasser, among others. Reportedly, the film boasts a canvas much larger than earlier Solomon films.
This IT professional has been a busy man since he left his job in 2011 to pursue acting. Honing his skills for a couple of years in theatre, Thaman has five releases to his credit. Now the actor also has four films on the floors. “I’ve completed my work for Puyalaai Kilambi Varum and Yaalai. My next two are with makers I’ve teamed with earlier—Nethra, with director A Venkatesh, and a
film with the Sethubhoomi team,” he says. Thaman’s career seems to be moving on the right track.
