After winning the National award for best supporting actor for his performance in Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai, Appukutty wasn’t seen in many films. The comedian has, however, bagged a couple of films that will see them playing central roles. Kagidha Kappal, sees him playing the lead as a rag picker while in Konjam Konjam, he plays a tamil migrant in Kerala who starts a business venture that grows in strides. It seems like we will be seeing a lot more of this talented actor in the coming months.
A new turf

Touted as an edge-of-the-seat psychological thriller, Kallattam hits theaters this weekend. It marks the directorial debut of seasoned cinematographer Ramesh G. The film, starring Nanda in the lead, has him essaying a diligent cop who exposes a chain-snatching gang and helps save a child’s life. For the actor whose career graph has never really been an upward mobile one, the movie could well be a game changer.
