Take the lead
After winning the National award for best supporting actor for his performance in Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai, Appukutty wasn’t seen in many films. The comedian has, however, bagged a couple of films that will see them playing central roles. Kagidha Kappal, sees him playing the lead as a rag picker while in Konjam Konjam, he plays a tamil migrant in Kerala who starts a business venture that grows in strides. It seems like we will be seeing a lot more of this talented actor in the coming months.
A new turf
Born and raised in Chennai, many of the top Telugu stars today have always expressed their desire to work in the tamil industry. And it seems like the inflow has begun. While audiences will be seeing Mahesh Babu acting in a bilingual film helmed by AR Murugadoss, Allu Arjun also has a bilingual to his name with Lingusamy, ending his ten-year search for the perfect Kollywood entry.
Touted as an edge-of-the-seat psychological thriller, Kallattam hits theaters this weekend. It marks the directorial debut of seasoned cinematographer Ramesh G. The film, starring Nanda in the lead, has him essaying a diligent cop who exposes a chain-snatching gang and helps save a child’s life. For the actor whose career graph has never really been an upward mobile one, the movie could well be a game changer.
