A tale of two
Gearing up for a Diwali release, Kodi, a political thriller, has quite a few firsts going for it. In his more-than-a-decade career, it’s Dhanush’s first try at tackling dual characters. The actor essays siblings, the elder one a politician. He also shares frames with Trisha for the first time. The film has Anupama Parameswaran (of Premam fame) paired with the younger sibling. For Dhanush’s fans,
it’s a double treat this Diwali.
Levelling the field
She has never acted in the films she has helmed. But actor-director Lakshmy Ramakrishnan has taken up a role in Ammani, her third directorial venture (set to release today). It depicts the bonding between two women from different economic strata—50-plus Salamma and the 82-year-old Ammani, a rag picker. Given the premise of the film, it could well be an inspiring experience
for the viewer.
The teaser of Sundar C’s new production, Meesaye Murukku, was launched recently. The film is garnering interest as it is helmed by Adhi, one of the singer-composers of the music duo Hiphop Thamizha (of Ambala, Indru Netru Naalai fame). Adhi also plays the lead in the film, apart from composing the music and penning the lyrics. One hopes the novelty and freshness he brings to his music will extend to his scripting and treatment of the film, too.
