Akshara is following her sibling, Shruti Haasan’s, footsteps. The latter had opted to debut in a Hindi film (Luck) before she made her foray into Tamil cinema. Likewise, Akshara began her acting career on the Hindi screen with Shamitabh. She now makes her debut in Tamil, with Thupparivaalan, a Mysskin-Vishal flick. Vishal’s home production, the film has an ensemble cast including Anu Emmanuel (from Malayalam) Vinay, Prasanna and Bhagyaraj. Akshara’s presence could well give an added fillip to the fantasy crime-thriller.
Nithin Sathya is elated. The actor has been receiving positive
feedback for his performance as the conniving son in the recent release, Ammani. Sathya, whose career is going slow but steady, has a few films lined up. A part of Chennai 600028, he, like the rest of the cast, is in the sequel, too. ‘‘It’s a powerful role,” he says.
“I’m also playing a cameo in Singham 3. And there is Pandigai where you will see a new Nithin,’’ the actor adds.
The right choice
36 Vayathinile was a smart selection for Jyothika’s comeback. The woman-centric plot, a proven subject in Malayalam (How Old Are You?), had showcased the actress in a favourable light. Her upcoming film, Magalir Mattum, seems to be yet another equally well thought out selection. The film is directed by Bramma, whose critically-acclaimed Kuttram Kadithal had some finely-etched women characters and ample scope to perform.
