New in the hood
Many a technician and actor have got their break under his banner. This time, producer-actor Sashi Kumar has introduced Solai Prakash as the director of his new film Balle Vellaiyatheva (set to release today). Also making her debut is Tanya, grand-daughter of yesteryear hero Ravichandran. “It’s a breezy family entertainer,” informs Sashi. Considering that he is a director too, has he ever felt the need to step in? “Since we discuss the script early, everything runs smoothly on the sets. If anything does go amiss, I am there to support them,” he says.
On cloud nine
Yuvan is elated and he can’t hide his pleasure. The rising young actor garnered a fair share of praise for his performance as the bull-tamer in the period film Ilami. The icing on the cake was an offer from director Bala to play the lead in his next film. Says the Saattai actor, excitement evident in his voice, “I’m thrilled.
I happened to meet Bala Sir and it all fell in place. I don’t know anything about the subject or my role. But I’m eagerly waiting for the shoot to start!” With his father, producer-director-actor Feroze Khan guiding him, Yuvan’s career seems to be on the right track.
All geared up for this Friday release is Kaththi Sandai, the Vishal-starrer directed by Suraaj. The USP of this comic-action entertainer is undoubtedly the return of Vadivelu after a long hiatus in a supporting comic role. With Soory teamed up with him too, it promises to be a hilarious scenario. Also, Vishal for the first time is paired with Tamannaah, and it will be interesting to watch how their chemistry works. In addition, the film has an ensemble cast including Jagapathy Babu and Tarun Arora, who plays the baddie.
