    Entertaining start
Arun Vijay had just one release last year, Thadaiyara Kaakka. However, this year’s looking up with Vaa Deal set to release soon. His fourth home production, the film is an action-packed entertainer. “My role is that of a cheerful character, who is very talkative and game for any challenge,” says Vijay, who is paired with Karthika in the film. He adds that he will also be working with outside banners this year.

    All in the family
After acting in over 40 Malayalam films, Bala is back in Tamil. He was most recently seen in Veeram, playing one of Ajith’s brothers. “It’s the first time that I got to work with my family,” says Bala, who is Veeram director Shiva’s brother. “Ajith saw my photo on my brother’s iPad and, without knowing I was his brother, said that I would be apt for the role,” he adds. With many offers coming his way, it looks like he’s here to stay.

    New ball game
Sports films have their takers—something Ethir Veechu is betting on. Shot completely in Malaysia, the film revolves around the game of Futsal, an indoor football game. Directed by K Guna, it stars rising hero Irfan (of Sundaattam, which was a carrom-based film) and Rasna.
