Sshivada is elated by the encouraging feedback she has been receiving for her spirited performance in Adhe Kangal, particularly with the response the team received from the suburban theaters where the movie, an A-class film, is being screened. The engineer-turned-actor has been lucky with her three releases so far, for Nedunjaalai and Zero too had given her ample scope to perform. Shuttling between Malayalam and Tamil films, the actress takes time off to pursue her MA in bharatanatyam. Sshivada’s upcoming films include Bobby Simha’s Vallavanukkum Vallavan and the thriller Kattam.
All in a name
What’s in a name, the Bard had said. And true to the adage, Nambi Raj has had three name-changes so far. As Ranjit Kumar, he directed a couple of films decades back. Using his own name he helmed a couple more films. And now, the director-producer is all geared up to bring to screen a story penned by MGR. In his third directorial phase, Nambiraj has opted for yet another change of name. It’s to be MGR Nambi, says the self-confessed fan of the
star-politician. Each to his own!
The flip side
Talking of names, the trend of negative titles seems to be catching on. Actor Jai Akash’s latest venture is titled Aama Naan Porukkithaan. With Devaraj wielding the megaphone and the camera, the plot centres on a common man taking on an international racketeer who tormented his dear ones. Planned to be shot at various foreign locales, Akash reportedly dons five different looks. More lavishly mounted than his earlier ventures, the film hopefully should be a career booster for the actor.
