Arulnidhi’s new film, Thagararu is set to release next month. “It’s the best of all my films so far. I’m expecting a lot from it,” says the actor. It’s also the first time that he is acting in a venture produced by cousin Dayanidhi’s Cloud Nine. Directed by debutant Ganesh Vinayak, it sees Poorna paired with him. On the anvil are two more films. “Both are lighter, comedy-oriented entertainers,” adds the actor.
Third time lucky
He’s choosy about the films he signs. There should be something in it that motivates me, says PC Sriram. The ace cinematographer is currently shooting for Shankar’s Ai. It should be wrapped up by the year end, if the schedules go as planned. And PC would be all set to work for his next Hindi film with Balki and Amitabh Bachchan. After Cheeni Kum and Paa, this is his third partnering with the duo. “There is mutual regard between Balki and me,” says Sriram, adding that he finds Balki’s concept and visualisation interesting. This third teaming should be as interesting a watch as their earlier two.
His latest release, Onaiyum Aatukuttiyum, has earned him appreciation from critics and colleagues. The director-actor Mysskin is literally on the roads of various districts of Tamil Nadu to promote his film. He is personally sticking posters of his film at bus stands and public places. “It is a small film and we didn’t get proper theatres or timings. Since we can’t afford to spend lakhs of rupees on promotions, I wanted to reach out to a larger crowd and this was the only way I could think of doing it,’’ he says.
