Koottam is set to release today. Starring Navin Chandra (of Pazhaniappa Kalluri) and Piaa Bajpai, it’s about the hurdles a group of youngsters face when they decide to give up their violent ways and begin a new life. The film, directed by M Jeevan, a former associate of Ram Gopal Varma, promises to be a thrilling action entertainer.
In the last few years, Prashanth has been a rare visitor to the big screen. Now he’s changing all that. He’s currently shooting his new film, Saahasam, which has already had shooting schedules in Delhi and Mumbai. “Prashanth went to Spain and lost oodles of weight—with aqua workouts and horse riding—for a slimmer, fitter look,” says Thiagarajan, Prashanth’s father and the film’s producer.
Mridula Bhaskar made her debut in Vallinam and got noticed as the tormented girl in her second film, Marumunai. Offers are steadily pouring in for this natural performer. Her next release, Thilagar, is set in the 1990s. “I essay a rural belle. It’s a role quite in contrast to the urban characters I’ve played earlier,” says Bhaskar.
