The controversies dogging Vadivelu haven’t affected his sense of humour. The comedian’s latest film, Thenaliraman, is scheduled to release today. Returning to the screen after a long hiatus, he essays the dual role of a king and his court jester. If the
trailer is any indication, the film—which also stars Meenakshi Dixit—promises to be a laugh riot.
Man in charge
Taking a break from acting, Porali Dileepan is all set to direct his first film, Vellai Kudhireyil Rajakumaran. Dileepan, a former director’s assistant to the likes of Balachandar, Samuthirakani and Suseenthiran, has played supporting characters in films like Porali, Pulival and Nimirnthu Nil. It was his role in Nimirnthu Nil—of Kumar, the hero’s friend—that got him recognition.
All about numbers
Kishore and Ranga, an IT professional and a financial consultant, team up to direct 12 Noon, an 18-minute Tamil feature film. Starring stalwarts like Y G Mahendra and Kavithalaya Krishna, the film is about four friends, a cricket match and an unexpected tragedy. The filmmakers have subtly woven in some relevant messages, too. “We are marketing it aggressively,” says the duo. To be released at multiplexes, the time-slots are still being finalised.
