The right mix?
Bharathan’s Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, starring Vijay, was a disappointment. Now the director is anxiously awaiting the response to his new venture, Athithi, which is out today. The suspense-filled action thriller is an adaptation of the Malyalam movie, Cocktail. Nanda and Ananya play a couple harassed by a stranger and blackmailed into doing unlawful acts. Nikesh Ram plays a crucial role, with singer Prasanna also a part of the cast.
Today’s other release, Enna Satham Indha Neram, gives Nitinsathyaa a change of image. “It’s the first time I’ve tried a full-length humorous character,” says the actor, adding that it will prove he can go beyond ‘intense roles’. In the film, he plays a zoo keeper who must find some quadruplets who have gone missing while he’s on duty. Director Jeyam Raja makes his debut as an actor in the film directed by
Guru Ramesh, a former assistant of Suresh Krishna and Soundarya Rajinikanth.
Basha is making his acting debut in Saivam, which releases today. Though he shares screen space with his father, Nassar, in their reel avatars, Nassar plays his grandfather. The film, which depicts the bonding between the duo, also conveys some relevant social messages. “I’d seen my father on shoots earlier, but hadn’t really observed him till I shared frames with him. I was nervous at first, but he soon put me at ease,” says Basha, about acting in director Vijay’s production.
