It has a catchy title and a quirky tag line. Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Direction, written and directed by Partheiban, goes by the tag-line ‘A film without a story’. An Independence Day release, the film is said to be a satire on the filmmaking process and is the actor-director’s tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema. Unlike his earlier directorial ventures, Partheiban hasn’t cast himself in the film, a home production. The cast comprises of newcomers with some top actors making a cameo.
Films for children or centred around children are a rarity on the big screen. So when a debutant director decides to make
a film on children, with a social message to boot, it is a welcome move. Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom, directed by Nithyanandam, revolves around three children who try to right the wrongs done by their father. The children cast in the film were contestants on a reality TV show.
The much-awaited Anjaan hits theatre today. Directed by Lingusamy, the Suriya-starrer has a quite a few firsts going for it. It marks the first-time pairing of Suriya and Samantha. It’s also for the first time that Santhosh Sivan is cranking the camera for a Suriya film. And, it’s the first time that Suriya has sung for a feature film. With the actor essaying a dual role, and with an ensemble cast including Vidyuth Jamwal and Manoj Bajpai, the film promises to be an interesting action thriller.
