After directing the Tamil thriller, Achamundu Achamundu, and co-producing the adult comedy, Kalyana Samayal Saadham, Arun Vaidyanathan has forayed into the Malayalam arena. Peruchazhi, his directorial venture with Mohanlal, is a political satire that released about a month back. And it has earned the director fair appreciation. He says, ‘‘Mohanlal was comfortable to work with… he puts one at ease.’’ As for his next film, Vaidyanathan says he has not decided yet. ‘‘It could well be a Tamil film,’’ he says.
Into the wild
Padmaraj, a former assistant of director Samuthirakani, is striking out on his own with Thalakonam. Jithesh, who has acted in brief roles in films like Thalakonam, essays the lead. Riya, who has acted in a couple of Telugu films, makes her debut on Tamil screen. A major portion of the romantic, action-suspense thriller was shot in the forests. The film is scheduled to hit theatres today.
Vishnu Vishal has his fingers crossed. His film, Jeeva, is all set to hit theatres today. It’s the actor’s first release after Mundasupatti, the much-acclaimed comic entertainer. With Sridivya playing his romantic interest, the film is directed by Suseendhiran. Incidentally, Suseendhiran’s earlier film with Vishnu, Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu, was centred around kabaddi. And this time, it’s cricket that the duo tackle.
