While shooting is on full swing for Saahasam, Prashanth is already gearing up for his next, a home production. A remake of the slick Hindi film, Special 26, starring Akshay Kumar, it will be made in all the four South Indian languages. While the leads in the other languages are yet to be finalised, Sathyaraj and Prakash Raj are likely to reprise their roles in all of them.
Can do better?
Paapanasam, the Kamal Haasan-Gautami starrer, is in its final schedule of shooting in Thodupuzha. The remake of the Malayalam hit Drishyam, it is being directed by Jeethu Joseph, who had helmed the original. The film will use the Nellai dialect. It will be interesting to see how Haasan interprets the role played with such panache by Mohanlal. The producers are looking at an early January release.
Two for comfort
Model-turned-actor Santhosh Prathap’s debut in Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam has paid him dividends. The hero has plenty of offers coming in, but he’s currently committed to only two films, he says. One is Uppuma, Parthiban’s sequel to his debut film. The other is director Agathyan’s love saga, produced by Bharatiraja and starring Vijaylakshmi. ‘‘Both are National Award winners and I’m fortunate to be directed by them,’’ says Prathap.
