In new territory
Ganesh Venkatram has his hands full these days. He’s just completed the shoot for the Hindi film Guns of Benares, a remake of Polladhavan. Shortly to be wrapped, his Thani Oruvan, directed by Jeyam Raja, sees him sharing frames with Jeyam Ravi and Nayanthara. “It’s a layered subject with friendship as its base,” he says. He’s commenced shoot for Ratnavel Pandian, a ‘typical action entertainer,’ with a new team. And there is Acharam, a dark psychotic thriller where he plays the lead.
Awaited with some anticipation,Vanmam has Vijay Sethupathi and Kreshna in the lead. Sunaina is the romantic angle for Kreshna. Set in a rural milieu and about two friends, it is laced with family drama, action and sentiment. It’s about how a small spark snowballs into a major issue. The film hitting theaters today, is directed by debutant Jai Krishna, a former assistant of Kamal Haasan.
A film set against the backdrop of the jungle is all set to hit theaters today. Titled Kaadu and directed by debutant Stalin Ramalingam, it has Vidharth and Samskruthy in the lead. “It will be an emotional, realisitic, action flick with a relevant message about forest conservation,” says Samuthirakani, who plays a crucial character
in the film.
