Chennai Ungalai Anbudan Varaverkiradhu is the catchy title of a Tamil film that hits theatres today. Directed by debutant Marudhu Pandian, it has Bobby Simha, Saranya and Prabanjan in the cast. Producer Madhuraj says, ‘‘It’s a realistic take on the problems faced by youngsters from rural areas, when they come to Chennai to earn their livelihood.’’
Game of politics
Look forward to today’s release,Thunai Mudhalwar, scripted by K Bhagyaraj, who also plays the lead. Sharing screen space is Jairam, Shweta Menon and Sandhya. Directed by Vivekanandan, it’s a political satire. Bhagyaraj says, ‘‘It’s about an honest, independent candidate wooed by two powerful political parties after he wins an election. And of how he uses his wits to achieve his aim of doing good for the people.’’
Villain turns hero
Shooting for Adhiradi is on at full swing. Mansurali Khan, who plays the lead, has also penned the film’s script and lyrics, composed the music and is producing it. The female leads are played by Maumitha Choudhry and Sahana. The plot centres on the problems a martial arts trainer faces when he is chosen to play the lead in a film. Directed by veteran Balu Anand, it has fighters from Hong Kong performing the stunts.
