    Pizza chronicles
After earning a couple of National awards, Kaakka Muttai hits theatres today. Directed by Manikandan, it’s about two slum kids (Ramesh and Vignesh) with a craving for pizza. Director Vetrimaran (co-producer of the film with Dhanush), says, “It deals with a universal truth. No one could ever dislike a film like this.”

    From the slums
After his splendid show in the brilliantly-crafted Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and Onaiyum Aattukuttiyum, Sree’s last release, Soanpapdi, proved to be a downer. But the hero now has Vil Ambu to look forward to. He says, ‘‘I play a slum boy and it’s an exciting role—like the ones I’d essayed in the two earlier films.’’

Making a transition to acting, popular singer Krish has Puriyadha Anandam Pudhidhaga Arambham. Directed by debutant Seyyadh Ibrahim, the romantic caper is about a shy youngster hesitant to express his feelings. Ask Krish which was more difficult, singing or acting. and he says, ‘‘Singing is tougher. I felt really comfortable on the sets. I didn’t feel like it was my first film.’’
