Sridhar is following in the foosteps of Prabhu Deva and Lawrence. The dancer-choreographer who has worked in more than 200 films, debuts as a hero in Pokkiri Mannan (releasing today). “I get to dance and romance, but also to fight and essay some emotional moments,” he says. The film, directed by debutant Rago Madhesh, would be a total entertainer, he adds. Sridhar also reveals that he would be directing his next film, apart from playing the lead in it.
After their teaming in Pandiya Naadu, the director-hero team of Suseenthiran and Vishal return with Paayum Puli, which hits theaters soon. A role right up his sleeve, Vishal is paired for the first time with Kajal Agarwal. “It’s an emotional action-centric cop story, with Madurai as the backdrop,” says Suseenthiran. The director also adds that Kajal would have much more to do here than just be a glamour prop.
Just for laughs
Taking a break from the serious roles he’s essayed in films like Pizza and Thegidi, Ramesh Selvan goes for a total make-over in Sawaale Samaali. The actor attempts comedy for the first time. The film, directed by Sathyashiva, hits theaters today. Selvan who was initially nervous wondering if he could pull it off, is happy that the response from his colleagues has been positive. “It’s a clean family entertainer, without any violence or crass comedy,” says Selvan.
