Finding his footing
“If he has reached this level of success in his acting career, it’s truly his dedication,” says director Sasi about Vijay Antony. The filmmaker, who introduced Antony as a music composer in Dishyum, has now directed him in Pitchaikaran. Attributing Antony’s success to his right selection of scripts, Sasi adds, “I wasn’t given any special privileges. He accepted the film only after he heard the script.” The film (releasing today) is about a millionare-turned-pauper and the
problems he faces.
There is a supernatural-horror experience in store for audiences this weekend. Sowcarpettai, the Srikanth-Raai Laxmi starrer, is out today. With Vadivudaiyan directing it, it is about a girl who is brutally killed and her spirit taking revenge. Vivekh has been roped in to add to the fun element. Incidentally, Srikanth takes
on his first dual avatar in the film—an urban look in one and
a scary, aghori-look in the other.
The music director-lyricist team of Imman and Vivek are excited. Their song Athuvutta…, from the Jiiva- Hansika-Sibiraj-starrer Pokkiri Raja (releasing today), has gone viral, garnering them much appreciation. “It is a love-failure song and I have sung it. We have tried to give a rock-feel to the koothu number and it seems to have clicked with the listeners,” says Imman, adding that the song, a foot-tapping number, has Jiiva’s vibrant dance moves to enhance its feel. Touted as a laugh riot, the film is directed by Ramprakash Rayappa.
