Hold on, Dhanush
With Pongal around the corner, and I and Aambala hitting theatres, films like Anegan (though completed) have to wait a few more weeks to get theatre space. Directed by K V Anand, Anegan has Dhanush and debutante Amyra Dastur (of Hindi film, Issaq) in the lead. Dhanush sports a variety of looks in what seems to be a performance-oriented role. Incidentally, AGS Entertainment, the film’s producer, is also the distributors of I (in the Chennai-Chengalpat area).
The I promise
One of the most anticipated films in recent times, I marks the return of the Shankar-Vikram team, after Anniyan. Amy Jackson plays the female lead. Prosthetics play an important part in the film, the teasers of which show Vikram as a disfigured man and then a menacing beast. With Vikram’s penchant for sinking his teeth into his characters, and with Shankar’s larger-than-life canvas, I, a festival release, promises to be an exciting romantic-action-thriller.
Mix and match
Vishal and Sundar C team up in Aambala, the former’s home production. With Vishal romancing Hansika, the cast includes Vaibhav, Prabhu and Santhanam. Also part of the cast are senior heroines Ramya Krishnan, Kiran and Aishwarya, in supporting roles. A light-hearted entertainer, it promises to be a blend of sentiment, romance and comedy — Sundar C style. The family entertainer seems an ideal festival fare.
