Look for answers
Director Sugan Karthi says his debut, Moondram Ulaga Por, is “a futuristic film set in 2025—a fictional plot about an Indo-China war”. Set to release this Friday, the concept seems interesting and different. Karthi has roped in upcoming actors Sunil Kumar and Akhila Kishore to play the lead roles. The director adds that he had done a lot of research for the film, and has even suggested a solution to the present political scenario. “After watching the film, each of us will take pride in being an Indian,” he assures us.
‘Short’cut to fame
Makers of short films have successfully established their credentials in the feature film arena. Some of them have adapted their work into the extended format, and the newest entry on the list is SP Mohan. His debut, Panju Mittai, stars television anchor Ma Pa Ka Anand and Nikhila from the Malayalam screen. Classified as a fantasy-comic entertainer, the film is an extended version of Mohan’s short film, Kalaru.
Back on track
Sakthivel Vasu is excited. The hero, who made a comeback in Tamil with Tharkappu, is all set to shoot his next Tamil film this February. “The details are being worked out,” he says. Also, two of his films are lined up for release this year. One is a bilingual (Telugu/Tamil), where he essays the lead role with negative shades. And in Kannada, he has Shivalinga, the Shivakumar-Vedhika starrer where he shares equal screen time with the Kannada superstar. “Kamal Haasan is my inspiration and, like him, I aspire to do a variety of roles and in various languages,” says Sakthi, whose career seems to be on track now.
