The top choreographer and his models will showcase fall fashions at Phoenix MarketCity
TAKING it a notch above fancy shop windows and audio-video displays, several brands have begun getting professional models to showcase new collections within shouting distance of said stores. The latest shopping space in Chennai to introduce a fashion runway is Phoenix MarketCity, but this time they hope to up the production values of the event with top models from Mumbai like Candice Pinto and Deepti Gujral, and one of the country’s most wanted fashion choreographers, Marc Robinson. The autumn/winter 2015 lines of premium brands like Brooks Brothers, Diesel, Kenneth Cole and Guess, among others, will be seen here. ‘‘Now trend conscious customers will be aware of what to expect in stores, and this includes styling, patterns and hues,’’ begins Noel Vessaoker, centre director of the mall, who earlier introduced music festivals and international acts at the popular retail space in Velachery. The event will include an Auroville market and a stand-up show by headliners like Abish Mathew, Kannan Gill and Kenneth Sebastian.
Meanwhile, Robinson, who visited the city recently for the Elite Model Look contest, agrees that reputed choreographers today must be show directors, capable of ‘‘keeping it straight with a no-fuss approach for pret fashion weeks, to making it dramatic with artists and musicians for couture fashion weeks to peppering it with dance performances for product launches.’’
