The Runway Code, a fashion event organised by Indulge was held at The Radisson Blu Hotel last week. It was a celebration of new talent and fresh ideas. The show was the grand finale of weeks of preliminary rounds, where students from Raffles Millennium International College, International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and National College of Design competed with each other to make it to the final round. Besides an eminent audience comprising director of Alliance Francaise Pierre-Emmanuel, event manager Vidya Singh and designer Chaitanya Rao among many others, the evening also saw an impressive panel of judges with designer Vivek Karunakaran, jewellery designers Ratika Haksar and Minnie Menon marking the participants on poise, choreography and creativity.
With their stilettos and attitude strapped on for good measure, the opening round saw the finalists sashaying down the ramp in saris and displaying the Breezee collection of jewellery from NAC Jewellers. Our design partner Agami Bespoke Studio designed an ethnic collection in festive colours for the second round which tested the choreography skills of the participants. “For the last round we had to design the outfit around the theme ‘angel’. We took our inspiration from the Greeks as that’s where the concept of angel comes from,” says Deepa Singh, 22, a participant from NIFT. Styled by Toni & Guy, the event was organised by Iris and choreographed by Sanjay Asrani.
Prerna Negi, 19, from NIFT won the Miss Breezee title and `10,000 from NAC Jewellers, whilethe best costume shield went to Raffles whose coustume comprised dramatic headgear and cape edged with lights. The winner of the best team was NIFT. They won a trophy and cash prize of Rs 50,000.
