New apps to make meaningful connections
The buzz around meeting/social/dating apps seems far from fading away. Here’s a new set of apps to help you find desired connections.
Parooz: Shekhar Yadav’s friendship/dating app was launched in Mumbai, and Bengaluru last week, and it matches people based on their interests. It also lets you send its own set of emojis. We like its emphasis on providing a ‘safe experience’. It analyses your messages, online activities, and profile photos to find patterns of abnormal/fake activities. Available on Android. Happn: Paris-based Happn, which connects people through hyperlocation in real time, entered India last month. So, once you cross paths with another Happn user, his or her profile will show up on your timeline. With its latest feature ‘See You There’, users can specify a particular activity (like eating out) they are interested in for the next four hours. If you find a match, a ‘Crush’ notification will pop up. Available on Android, iOS, and Windows. Details: happn.com
Ting Ting: Sandeep Gandra’s ‘help app’ connects people with real problems. Specify the radius within which you wish to find a person in (from 0.5 to 50 km), and post a 10-second voice message. You can also send virtual hugs to thank the person later, or write a review about him or her. It is targetted at the student community. Available on Android, iOS and as a web app. Details: tingtingapp.com
