Louis Vuitton marks the iconic shoe’s 10th year with a new update
It was back in 2006 that Louis Vuitton first launched the Monte Carlo moccasin, which today has reached an iconic status. Taking inspiration from the Monaco Grand Prix, known for its fast cars, glamorous spectators, and as one of the most favoured holiday spots of the rich and famous, the Monte Carlo was positioned as a driving shoe. This year, the luxury leather brand celebrates the shoe’s 10th anniversary, by introducing a special made-to-order service in select stores across the world.
While the service is permanently available in Delhi, the ‘Monte Carlo caravan’ comes to the Bengaluru store for five days, starting July 15. Crafted in a tubular construction with a vamp that is hand-stitched and a rubber nub sole, its flexibility and comfort succeeded in making it a travel essential.
The new release features an exotic Caiman leather body, known for its durability and uniform scales that make it perfect for moccasins. Catering to everyone from the flamboyant male to those who prefer to keep it low key and staid, the shoe is available in 13 new shades ranging from bordeaux, indigo and cognac to prune, rubis and marine.
At the Louis Vuitton store, you can refer to the booklet that will take you through the intricate details of the shoe. You can pick your colour and buckle, which is the LV monogram, available in your choice of lining (dark ruthenium, antique gold and dark ruthenium with leather insert), before proceeding to get your measurements taken. To make things a touch more personal, get your initials stamped onto the lining. The finished product, manufactured at their factory in Fiesso d’Artico, Italy will be delivered to you within four to six months.
Apart from the bespoke products, they also have a line of ready to wear shoes in Caiman leather.
