The cityas most popular lifestyle boutique opens a new space at Chamiers, with a line by Abraham & Thakore
What is it about Amethyst, the lifestyle boutique with its charming cafe and eclectic selection of jewellery, fashion and home accessories that has people returning for more, from across the city and country? Whatever it is, owner Kiran Rao has more of the same coming up in another beloved spot, Chamiers.
The a?little Amethysta at their sister concern may not have space for the popular exotic flower shop but it will have a curated showcase of apparel, bijoux and more. Rao is going to take it as it comes and will include new labels as required. With a faithful clientele for the gift shop and cafe at Chamiers, this addition will only liven things up. The store will be launched on December 5, with a select collection by Abraham & Thakore. One half of the duo, Rakesh Thakore, will be at the event, which will also mark 10 years of Chamiers.
The Thakore connect
Earlier this year, A&T introduced an Autumn Winter 2013 line from a collaboration with Banarasi silk expert Bharat Shah at Ekaya. It saw innovative handwoven brocades in lustrous shades like copper and vermillion. From the sari dress to pleated skirts, the silhouettes were intelligent, yet classic. The same aesthetic applies to their recent bridal line for the contemporary woman, Shaadi Redux. They explore texture and print and simple geometrics. Look out for Maheshwar, double ikat silks and lightweight cotton voile. Be it their shawls with a hint of shimmer or belted tunics for the season, this here is a brand we look forward to seeing more of at Amethyst.
The collection will be on display till December 12. Details: 9840438608
