Pizza Hut offers coffees and desserts with their new ‘Hut Cafe’
Nobody likes it when their neighbourhood pizza place moves the door around. But once we follow the big red arrow to the new entrance at Sterling Road’s Pizza Hut, we realise that more than the door has changed. The chain has converted their prime outlet into Hut Cafe, making it a pizzeria that also doubles as a lounge cafe. “This is the second Hut Cafe that we have started in the country, and going by the response to the first in Kolkata, we believe it will work here as well,” says Sanjiv Razdan, general manager, Pizza Hut.
Primarily focussed at increasing their walk-ins during the 3 pm to 7 pm lean period between lunch and dinner, Hut Cafe has a range of coffees, short eats and dessert combos, that will give brands like Costa and CCD a run for their money. “The combos start from as low as Rs. 99 for a coffee and a dessert, so it is economical,” he adds. Economical not being a word that patrons associate with Pizza Hut in general, we raise our eyebrows slightly. “It’s true! That’s why we’re trying to introduce items like the Big Pizza that gives you a 10-inch thin-cruster for a flat Rs. 199,” he states.
Meanwhile, we sample the hazelnut coffee shake and the berrylicious smoothie and find them adequately thick. While leaning towards oversweet and excessively creamy, they could just be what coffee shop regulars come to get a shot of. Desserts like banoffee pie, blackcurrant cheesecake and Mississippi pie sport price tags that are as easy as Rs. 145. And in case you’re wondering, all the popular pizzas are available too.
An average coffee date for two will cost Rs. 400. Details: 42057108
