For those who swear by argan oil for the hair, how about some ‘liquid gold’ therapy for the face? Lakme’s new signature facial, Moroccan Liquid Gold Ritual, includes the Moroccan import with its anti-oxidant properties in generous lashings. As the pitch included anti-ageing therapy, cell renewal and combatting dryness, I decided to give it a shot.
After the mandatory cleansing and toning, the 60-minute treatment began with a vegetable peel, with extracts of pineapple and papaya that the therapist claimed would painlessly exfoliate the skin and remove blackheads. Thankfully, it didn’t sting like most peels. An aloe vera-lactic acid pack followed to even out my skin tone. But the highlight was the 15-minute massage with argan oil. The therapist knew what she was doing as she hit all the right pressure points and assured me she’d work the vitamin-e rich oil thoroughly into my skin. A gold masque, to add a boost of freshness, rounded things off. The result: my tan was lighter and my skin felt fresh. However, the following day revealed a few tiny bumps along my T-zone—so I wouldn’t recommend the facial for those with oily skin or an intolerance to papaya and milk. Moroccan Liquid Gold Ritual is available at all Lakme Salons. Rs.2,500 plus tax. Details: lakmeindia.com
