Hearty meals and a warm atmosphere make for a cosy  local joint

Appropriately named Hangout Cafe, the latest addition to Koramangala’s food scene is just the place to spend time with friends. Free-wifi, comfy seating and plentiful, reasonably-priced food options combine, making this an excellent option, especially for those staying close by.
    Getting social
0201Food8AnchorDropping by on a Sunday evening, we were taken by the welcoming vibe. While the inside seating area is small (fewer than 10 tables), almost every place was taken, with some visitors also sitting in the outside patio area. Mostly we spotted groups of young people catching up over dinner, but there were also those with laptops, and we suspect that during weekdays it would be a great place to work over a coffee. Getting comfortable on the quirky aubergine stools, we surveyed the menu, which has a good mix of short eats and more substantial fare.
    Digging in
For starters, try the spinach bites, which are packed with cheese as well as greens. Another option for sharing would be the generous serving of chicken bruschetta. Moving onto main courses, we were tempted by the range of burgers, wraps and pizzas, but instead went for vegetable pasta in a herbed alfredo sauce, and a serving of grilled fish. The basa was excellent, coated in a delicious mustard-based sauce, and accompanied with brown rice and lightly sautéed yellow capsicum and courgette. The pasta was equally satisfying, and we were happy with the generous amount of fresh winter veggies in the sauce, though the fusilli itself was a little al dente for our liking. We rounded off our meal with the sizzling brownie, and we’d recommend that you do the same. Piping hot and decadently chocolatey, it was the perfect sweet ending.
