Director: Sam Mendes
Cast: Daniel Craig, Christop Waltz, Monica Velluci, Lea Seydoux
After Skyfall, everyone was probably expecting another hit from Mendes. Not probably, we were. So when a tired looking Craig as James Bond, begins chasing a ghost in order to tie up loose ends from his past, we were more than willing to give him the room to get to the bottom of it.
But when the plot is a bottomless pit, with clichés after clichés thrown in, we all end up looking as tired as Bond, and M
(Ralph Fiennes). And then there is the beautiful Léa Seydoux, who sizzles but doesn’t get the fire going. Thank god for Christoph Waltz.

X: Past is Present
Director: Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, Anu Menon, Nalan Kumarasamy
Cast: Rajat Kapoor, Anshuman Jha
Eleven directors tell the tale of one film maker and the eleven women he has had relations with in one night (and the day after). Sounds like Ghost of Girlfriends Past’s amplified version doesn’t it? Rajat Kapoor plays Kishan while Anshuman Jha plays his younger version. The movie tries but it’s a hit or a miss with every story that has been weaved into it.

Oru Naal Iravil
Cast: Sathyaraj, Anumol
It centers on a family man who succumbs to temptation and finds himself in a compromising situation with a hooker for company. Both Sathyaraj and Anumol essay their characters with perfect understanding. Many a remake while capturing the physicality of the original, tend to miss out on its essence. But Anthony has captured the feel and mood of the earlier version. Engaging in its treatment, humorous and poignant in turns, it offers a different viewing experience for Tamil audiences.
