    The Finest Hours
    Director: Craig Gillespie
    Cast: Chris Pine,
    Casey Affleck, Ben Foster
The movie recreates the little-known 1950s rescue mission, in which four coast guards risk their lives, steering into rough sea to reach a crippled oil tanker and save 30 lives. With some gripping scenes and strong performances by Pine, Bana and Affleck, the movie makes for a good disaster drama. It is a perfect entertainer, especially if you watch it on IMAX. And if you enjoyed the recent IMAX flick, In The Heart of The Sea, this one is way better.

    Ghayal Once Again
    Director: Sunny Deol
    Cast: Sunny Deol, Om Puri,
    Soha Ali Khan
Being a sequel, the film picks up from where it left 26 years ago. Its protagonist Ajay Satyakam Mehra has turned older, angrier and is now an investigative journalist in Mumbai, also sort of an icon for youth. You will see him protecting four youngsters from the bad men of Mumbai, as they accidentally record a murder. The plot has its heart in the right place, but Deol, as a director, has unnecessarily tried to make the film larger-than-life, and even roped in firangi villains. Cut the excesses, and the film is a good watch. Deol reprises his award-winning act quite well.

    Visaaranai
    Director: Vetrimaaran
    Cast:  Dinesh, Samuthirakani

An  adaptation of auto driver Chandrakumar’s book Lock Up, this movie chronicles the protagonist’s horrific experiences while in police custody. Skillfully translated on to the screen, the film is hard hitting, gritty and nearly realistic in its take, raising Tamil cinema to the next level. The cast renders splendid performances. The pace is leisurely in the earlier part and there are some minor glitches. But it’s a film that makes the film industry proud .
