Besides a website, Heritage Blend, a Coorg coffee brand, promises an interactive experience at Maalgaadi
JOINING the list of freshly-brewed coffee choices in the city like Narasu’s, Flying Squirrel,Blue Tokai, ID and Kumbakonam Degree, the new Heritage Blend brand comes all the way from Coorg. It boasts fruit and spice undertones and an eco-friendly tag. For Aishwarya Srikkanth, coffee is a necessary luxury. ‘‘To me it is more than just a hot beverage; it is an experience. This ritualistic experience is only possible if one has access to the most superior blend of coffee beans,’’ elaborates the 29-year-old owner of the brand.
Heritage Blend coffee is from Srikkanth’s family owned sprawling estates in Coorg. ‘‘Our family has been in the cultivation and export of coffee for over 150 years. It began with my great grandfather working alongside the British in Chikkamangalur plantations. With a family history that makes me immensely proud, crafting Heritage Blend was a natural progression,’’ says Srikkanth, adding that the e-store is up. Offering a curated blend of three types of whole beans – Robusta, Arabica and Peaberry – the coffee from this brew is best described as strong, exceptionally rich, full bodied and deep in colour and aroma. ‘‘What makes it enjoyable further is the subtle tones of jackfruit, cardamom and pepper, whose trees provide the vital shade to the estate plantations,’’ shares Srikkanth. There is no chicory in these offerings. ‘‘We are a UTZ certified brand, which is issued as a label to companies practising sustainable farming,’’ says Srikkanth. To be launched on January 30, in association with Maalgaadi at Besant Nagar, Heritage Blend will share the stage alongside eco-friendly fashion brands – Arture and Naushad Ali. Expect an interactive session, a coffee-tasting affair and DYI coffee kits.
