A Dutch DJ duo blazes the trail for Sunburn 2015
Hot on the heels of December’s festival, Sunburn gives EDM fans Blasterjaxx, from the Netherlands on a four-city tour. Ahead of a packed 2015 schedule at Ultra, EVC and Tomorrowland, we catch up with Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf.
On your release Beautiful World
We had a little set up and then sat together with our friends from D-Block & S-te-Fan (former hard-style producers). They instantly loved it and we decided to start all over. We think that the results are really good. Let us know!
Your best collaborations.
Collaborating lets you mix multiple musical minds. Beautiful was really nice with DBSTF but also Rocket with W&W has been a massive tune. In the future, we would love to work with Daddy Yankee, Nickelback and Pharrell Williams.
On your recent tours.
We can’t even keep up ourselves! December and January have been insane. We have seen almost every continent from Europe to Asia, Southern and Northern America. Then we are off to Australia after we finish in India.
Who and what inspires you?
Musically, Dutch DJ and music producer Hardwell, aka Robbert van de Corput, and other Dutch DJ Tijs Michiel Verwest, better-known as Tiësto. Aside from EDM, we also listen to rock, pop and a little reggae.
What did you want to be as kids?
Thom: I thought I’d be a communications adviser, or a teacher!
Idir: I wanted to be a mechanic.
What most excites you about Sunburn?
We have never played in India so we are super excited. We see a lot of engagement on social media. We also heard Sunburn is one of the best festivals, so we are definitely feeling hyped about it!
`1,000 upwards. February 8. At E-Zone, Marathahalli.
