If buying an SUV is on the cards, we suggest you give the ubiquitous models a miss and wait a little longer for these beauties.

Three upcoming SUVs for the Indian buyer

Hyundai Tucson
The Tucson is back with a major upgrade. Just like Hyundai did with the Santa Fe, the Tucson is now refreshed, looks super-hot and comes in with all new tech under that curvy bodywork. There should be decent firepower from the engine too and it will go up against the Honda CR-V and the Mahindra XUV. Judging by how well the Creta and Santa Fe have done, expect this one to be a hit as well. Expected: end of 2016, `18-24 lakh.

Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan shares the same platform as the Kodiaq, and should be making its India debut before its Czech cousin as well. The Tiguan will offer loads of space and the robustness of the Volkswagen brand. It will still have its work cut out against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, though we think the Tiguan makes for a more corporate face than any of its competition. Expected: end of 2016 or early 2017, `25-30 lakh.

Jaguar F-Pace
Stepping almost into the realm of what Land Rover does for a living, Jaguar is all set to bring in its first-ever cross overathe F-Pace. Instead of simply terming it an SUV, Jag says that this is the most practical sportscar money can buy and we agree as it gets all the pretty bits from Jaguaras design handbook. Since it comes straight from the Leaping Cat, we know that it is going to command some formidable performance too. Expected: end of 2016, `80 lakh.
