With 15 counters and home delivery coming up, Epicures Junction in Grand Mall is a pleasant surprise to Velachery

With their second mall open for business, the folks in Velachery sure have reason to celebrate. In addition to Shoppers Stop, Croma and the food court, Grand Mall also houses PVR Cinemas that should be operational soon. On a recent visit, we chanced upon Praveen Raj Kumar, who operates the food court, Epicureas Junction, also present in IT park Mahindra City. “There will be a total of 15 counters in a months time,” says Raj Kumar, about the approximately 17,000 sq ft food court. As we scan through the options, we find many new names and Raj Kumar clarifies, “Our food court is keen on promoting new ventures.” That said, he adds that the only international chains coming up are Domino’s and Subway. For fans of Arabian food there’s shawarmas, kebabs and of course grilled chicken courtesy Arabikhana, with Noodle Doodles offering Chinese with a hint of Thai (Thai spicy chicken noodles for instance) and Fishee delivering you your daily dose of Chettinad (they serve mutton, chicken and seafood too).

Though the mall will not house any stand-alone restaurants as is the growing trend today, Praveen informs us that the food court will have a central delivery service. By logging onto Epicures Junction.com, residents within a three kilometre radius, will be able to place orders from multiple outlets within the food court. And while their food court card doubles as a credit card on their website, it also offers reward points on regular use. So when will the delivery service to be operational? “In a couple of months,” says Praveen, who plans to make Epicures Junction a concept providing food and family entertainment too.
