With start ups ranging from the likes of Lunchbox, which makes sure your kids at school get an unusual meal each day, to Buybazaar, which delivers your monthly stock of groceries and provisions to your door, our city is being flooded with young entrepreneurs who want us to spend our time wisely. Joining the bandwagon are Krishna Chaitanya and Ransdale Mathew, whose week-old Party In A Box is out to change the way we entertain at home.
What do you do when you are pressed for time and have a party to organise? Chaitanya, who has two degrees in event management from London, has just the solution. While one might think roping in a party planner is the answer, this duo have a better solution. They send you a box with all that you would require — so you simply have to open up and party on. “The idea came to us when we faced a similar situation,” Chaitanya admits. “We have started with two boxes for Christmas and New Year. Each has about 25 items and is ideal for a dinner or cocktail party for about six to eight guests.” These 25 items vary from a four-foot Christmas tree, decorations, Christmas crackers and a CD or carols in the Christmas box, to balloons, masquerade masks, confetti poppers, champagne glasses and a disco ball in their New Year box. “You can set up in less than an hour and the whole point is to save time,” he says.
What we really like is that Party In A Box allows you to choose what goes into your box. And though they do not add anything edible, if you make a special request that a bottle of champagne be thrown in, it will be done. Of course, you will be paying accordingly. Currently operating from a Facebook page and a phone number, Chaitanya tells us that they deliver across India. They are also working on a shipping deal to eliminate the extra shipping charges. The Christmas and New Year boxes are priced at Rs 4,950 each and custom boxes will require a week’s notice.
